Micro Needling Pre & Post Treatment Instructions

Updated: Nov 15, 2021

MICRONEEDLING

Xquisite Contouring provides medical grade micro-needling. Micro-needling is a procedure used to diminish the appearance of wrinkles, lines, stretch marks, burn scars, and increase delivery of certain medications that treat skin discoloration like melasma. Melasma has been shown to improve by up to 80%. In combination with a hair growth serum it has been shown to increase hair growth by 50%. Micro-needling involves puncturing the dermal layer with tiny needles. This has been shown to stimulate collagen growth as well as breaking up tough bonds in the skin that cause scars and wrinkles.

Micro-needling Pretreatment Instructions

  • 1 Hour prior to the procedure start applying a 1-2mm thick layer of the Lidocaine 2.5%/Prilocaine2.5% cream to the treatment area. Reapply every 15-20 minutes.

  • Make sure to get the numbing cream as close to the lip line, nasal folds, and lower eyelid area as possible without getting in the eyes or mouth.

  • Remember to bring any prescription creams & the anesthetic cream to the appointment.

Micro-needling Posttreatment Instructions

  • After micro-needling the treatment area will be red and will have a mild stinging or burning sensation as the area begins to build and replace the collagen. Mild swelling is normal. The redness should not last longer than 24 hours and it is okay to apply clean makeup over the skin if desired.

  • If an Rx cream was micro-needled into the skin it is recommended to wash the skin when you get home with a mild skin wash.

  • Cool compresses may be applied as needed and it is safe to take Ibuprofen or Tylenol if needed.

  • Small areas of crusting may occur with micro-needling. These areas can be treated with gentle exfoliation with a soft wash cloth followed by a thin layer of antibiotic ointment such as Bacitracin.

  • If redness or irritation persists longer than 24 hours you may treat the areas with a 1% Hydrocortisone cream that is over the counter.

  • It is beneficial to apply a topical Vit C serum to the skin to help with skin rejuvenation as well as taking a multivitamin daily to build healthy skin from the inside out.
